A Winter Rendezvous at the Summer Solstice (Prologue)
Another summer has arrived. The lush trees are much taller than last year, and the pink crape myrtle blossoms are quietly blooming, filling the air with a faint fragrance.
Xia Zhi, panting, ran into a secluded patch of grass. Finding no one around, she stopped and gasped for breath. The grass carried a faint scent of fresh grass mixed with the clean fragrance of earth. A gentle breeze blew, lifting the ends of her hair, her long, smooth hair rippling like waves on the sea.
She smiled sweetly, then lay down on the grass, sprawling in an extremely unladylike manner.
She closed her eyes, quietly savoring this moment of tranquility.
After a while, she opened her eyes. The sunlight wasn't too harsh; she could almost see white clouds drifting slowly in the sky.
Suddenly, she saw a person lying down, eyes closed, leaning against a crape myrtle tree.
She sat up and turned to look at the tree.
Beneath the flowering tree, a serene man leans gently against the tree, a scene as beautiful as a poem.
