Winter's Appointment to the Summer Solstice (Part 1)
Xia Zhi quietly approached the man, scrutinizing him like a work of art, her gaze lingering on his serene, water-like demeanor.
Fair skin, a clean-cut face. His bangs were light and straight, like clouds in the sky, pure and beautiful.
His brows were slightly furrowed, like a piece of paper that could never be smoothed, making one want to smooth it, yet afraid of damaging its beauty.
Occasionally, petals like crape myrtle blossoms drifted down, landing on his shoulder.
Was he asleep? Xia Zhi wondered to herself.
Suddenly, the man opened his eyes, his gaze like a deep, mysterious blue light.
Xia Zhi was startled and awkwardly averted her gaze.
The man said nothing, simply standing up. A small crape myrtle leaf drifted down from his shoulder, floating gently in the air for a moment before finally settling on a blade of grass.
Xia Zhi looked up at the crape myrtle tree.
The tree wasn't tall, but the blossoms were dense, one after another, each a different pale pink, seemingly tinged with a hint of purple.
Suddenly, the man spoke, "What were you doing just now?"
Xia Zhi smiled, a little embarrassed, thinking, "I can't exactly say I was looking at you, can I?" "I... I just saw a butterfly on your shoulder, so..."
Xia Zhi herself thought this reason was utterly absurd.
Unexpectedly, the man simply gave a curt "Oh."
Xia Zhi smiled shyly and said, "Um, hello! My name is Xia Zhi."
The man glanced at her; a crape myrtle petal floated lightly above her head, bathed in the warm sunlight—very beautiful.
The man didn't speak, looking at her with an extremely cold gaze, a chill that instantly seeped into Xia Zhi's heart, making her shiver involuntarily.
The man turned to leave.
Xia Zhi watched his retreating figure; his slender frame, accentuated by the flowering trees, looked exceptionally handsome.
"You're so rude!" Xia Zhi shouted at him.
"Does it make you polite to peek at someone while they're sleeping?" The man stopped and turned around.
Xia Zhi was momentarily speechless, only able to weakly say, "Who said I was looking at you?"
The man gradually approached her. "Oh? Is that so?"
Xia Zhi's left hand kept clutching the hem of her skirt.
Seeing the man getting closer and closer, Xia Zhi couldn't help but feel a strange feeling. "What do you want?"
A breeze blew by, and her long hair fluttered gently.
