21. Piano Music for the Night

Dear readers, let me reiterate that the matter of Rosie is now closed, and a new character will be introduced.

  Previous Chapter
Some say that if someone likes a song, it's because the song contains their story, memories they want to remember but fear forgetting. Music is indeed that unforgettable. Music has recorded my stubborn wounds and faint smiles, my tears, my happiness, my silence, my dreams, my longing—everything. It seems to understand everything.
  --Epigraph
A month has passed since that incident. Hong Wange has woken up. Today is a rainy day; the road is like a field of blooming umbrellas. Children running in raincoats leave ripples in their wake. Opening the window, the smell of rain wafts in. "Wange should be awake by now," Lin Yuqin says happily, pushing open the door. "How is Wange? Is anything else bothering you?" Ying Moxiao asks worriedly as soon as she sees her. "Am I that fragile?" Hong Wange says. "But..." Ying Moxiao's face is full of worry. "Thank you all for taking care of me lately," Hong Wange says. "It's alright. Please continue to take care of me in the future," Yuqin says. [Oh no, she's speaking Japanese again.] "Miss, please give me some guidance!" Shen Yeran said with a smile. "Really, it was just an accident," Yuqin said "angrily." "Being angry is cute too," Shen Yeran teased Lin Yuqin, and everyone laughed. It was raining heavily outside, which seemed to accentuate the loneliness of the city, but inside the room it was warm, forming a stark contrast with the outside. "Alright, let Ying Moxiao and Wange catch up. We'll go out first, you can chat slowly," Lin Yuqin said to everyone. "But I still want to talk to Xiaogege for a while," Yuyao said while acting cute. "Alright, let's go," Lin Yuqin dragged Yuyao away. "So boring, I want to talk to Xiaogege," Yuqin's face was full of boredom. "How about watching the rain? Interested?" Lin Yuqin asked. "But the rain is too heavy," Yuyao replied. "It's okay," Lin Yuqin said. "You'll catch a cold," Shen Yeran said worriedly. "Alright, don't think about it so much," Yuqin said, pulling everyone up to the rooftop with umbrellas. From the hospital rooftop, the entire city was shrouded in mist, appearing and disappearing, with the rain drizzling down. "It's a very nice view, isn't it?" Yuqin smiled, her smile like a wildflower blooming in the rain, with a hint of stubbornness and a touch of nature's charm. Two blushes unconsciously appeared on Shen Yeran's face. "It's here after all!" The door opened, and Ying Moxiao walked in. "Are you done talking?" Yuqin asked. "Yes." "Then let's go back." Everyone went back to school. Back at school, everyone walked towards the dorms, but Yuqin walked in the other direction. "Aren't you going back to the dorms?" Shen Yeran asked. "I want to walk around," Yuqin said. "Come back early, don't catch a cold," Shen Yeran reminded her like an old lady. After that, everyone split into two groups. Yuqin walked through the rain-soaked campus, which had a unique charm. Suddenly, the rain intensified, pounding against the windows. Yuqin saw a white church and stood under the eaves to block out the rain, wanting to wait for it to subside before leaving. But the rain kept getting heavier. [I should just keep going, lest it get even heavier later.] Yuqin ran back as fast as she could, umbrella in hand. Opening the room door, she saw everyone preparing hot pot. Water droplets dripped from Yuqin's clothes, making her look like a girl just out of the water. Suddenly, her view was blocked; it was a towel. Then came Shen Yeran's voice: "Quickly dry yourself off, change your clothes, then come eat. You'll shower later." His tone was both commanding and concerned. Yuqin put the umbrella away, then hurried to the changing room, dried her hair, changed into clean clothes, and sat down to eat. After eating, she took a shower. When Yuqin came out of the shower, everyone was playing online games. Yuqin changed her clothes and stood under the eaves of the dormitory watching... Through the rain outside, a coat was suddenly draped over Yuqin's shoulders, accompanied by the words, "Just came out of the shower, aren't you afraid of catching a cold? Come back inside." Shen Yeran said as he walked towards Yuqin. "Okay." Back inside, "Where did you two go?" Ying Moxiao asked with a lewd expression. "Yeah, where did we go?" everyone asked as well (there was an underlying meaning here). "What are you thinking? Ying's gone, let's go back to the dorm," Shen Yeran said helplessly. Ying Moxiao was dragged away by Shen Yeran. "Goodnight," Shen Yeran said to the four girls before leaving. Hong Wange asked, "Yuqin, do you want to play games?" "Let's go to sleep," Yuqin said. "Yeah, I'm sleepy too." Gu Qing Ying said that Yuyao was eating a lollipop, and Hong Wange patted Yuyao's head and said, "Okay, go to sleep," and turned off the lights... Soon, everyone fell asleep. The moonlight couldn't penetrate the clouds, so it was very dark tonight. Coupled with the rain still falling, it seemed very quiet outside, like a scene from a TV drama where someone is about to die. Yuqin put on a coat, grabbed an umbrella, and because she couldn't sleep, she took a walk on campus. When she reached the white church, she suddenly heard a sound coming from inside. Yuqin pushed open the creaking, rusty door and went inside. The windows were already rusty, and with the heavy rain, they rattled loudly. Some... Unable to make out the murals clearly, Yuqin pushed open the second door. Behind the second door, like the first, was a room closer to the sound. Then came the third door, and standing outside the fourth, through the rusty curtain, she could clearly hear the piano music. The sound seemed to conjure a scene for Yuqin: a bustling city lacking the tranquility and peace of the night, flashing neon lights telling passersby of their inner turmoil and desolation. And this sound seemed to be telling the listener that it was often a time to quietly and leisurely immerse oneself in flower tea and music, letting the flowing melodies drift freely in the room, letting the heart-stirring tunes float gently in the soul. Closing her eyes, she listened intently. Crystal-clear notes, played on different instruments, transformed into different tunes, different emotions, different moods. Savoring it, it was as if a pool of fragrant, pure water had been poured into her heart, washing away the dust of time, allowing her to find a sanctuary for her soul amidst the clamor of the world. Yuqin was deeply moved by this sound.
