26. Yuqin's "Happy" Day

"Hmm, this is..." It was morning. Yuqin opened her sleepy eyes, her hair disheveled and her clothes in disarray. "Oh, good morning," Yuqin said, only then realizing that she was sleeping in the same bed with a man (whom she had just met). "You..." Yuqin covered her chest. "Uh, I wouldn't rape you, with your small frame," the man said. "Knock knock knock," came a knock on the door. "Yuqin, I'm coming in," Aunt Chen called out as she knocked. "Wait a minute!" Yuqin shouted, stopping her. With lightning speed, Yuqin brushed her teeth, washed her face, and got dressed. "I'm coming in," Aunt Chen said. "Okay," Aunt Chen looked at the two of them, then at the bed. "You two are sleeping together," Aunt Chen said with a sly smile. "There's no bed left, and I'm too lazy to make it, but who knew this girl would have such a bad sleeping posture," the boy complained. "It hurts so much, my back and waist ache!" the boy continued to complain. "Aunt Chen, where's the bed? I'll bring it over." Yuqin ignored the boy and smiled at Aunt Chen, saying, "Oh, I forgot to mention, the bed can be separated. I closed it because it's more comfortable for one person to sleep in a big bed." Aunt Chen even gave her signature smile at the end. Yuqin puffed out her cheeks in anger, which was quite cute, but that wasn't the point. Yuqin said angrily, "Really, why didn't you say so earlier? You, don't just stand there, pull the bed apart." "Hey, I'm not calling you. Don't keep calling me 'you.' Let me tell you, my name is Ye Wenfeng." Ye Wenfeng said loudly. "I'm not calling you 'hey' either. Let me tell you, my name is Lin Yuqin. Remember that!" Lin Yuqin also challenged him and shouted back, "Oh my, it's only been one night, and you two are already so close!" "Okay," Aunt Chen said with her signature smile again. "No, this guy's sleeping posture is terrible, and he wants to hog the whole place. It's killing me!" they both said in unison. "Don't mimic me!" they both said in unison again. They were about to continue arguing when "ring ring," Aunt Chen answered the phone. After the call, she said to Yuqin, "Yuqin, can you help me clean the apartment? Be careful. After you're done, go buy some food. Aunt Chen is going out to run errands. Call me if you need anything. Take care of yourself. Then do the laundry and air out the blankets." "Okay," Yuqin replied. Yuqin filled a basin with water, rolled up her sleeves, and started mopping the floor. "Ahhh!" Yuqin was full of energy. An hour later, Yuqin sat by the door. "Ah, I'm exhausted. The first floor is sparkling clean. Next up is the second floor." Qin picked up the basin of water and had just stood up when Ye Wenfeng called out, "Hey, catch!" Turning around, Yuqin saw Ye Wenfeng with a piece of fried noodle bread in his mouth. Looking up, she saw a piece of bread flying towards her. Yuqin caught it. "I bought you breakfast," Ye Wenfeng said. Yuqin hadn't quite grasped what was happening, because she thought it was impossible for him to buy her food. "Hey!" Ye Wenfeng noticed Yuqin's blank stare. "Oh, thank you," Yuqin finally snapped out of it. "What are you daydreaming about?" Ye Wenfeng asked. "Nothing," Yuqin said. The two sat on the steps and ate their bread together. After they finished, Yuqin said, "You eat slowly, I'm going to mop the floor." "Aren't you going to mop the steps?" Ye Wenfeng asked. "I'm done." "Oh." Yuqin changed the water in the basin and went to mop the floor. Ye Wenfeng continued eating his bread on the steps. Then he heard two sounds: "Splash!" and "Ah!" Ye Wenfeng wondered, "What's going on?" Sighing, he decided to check. He went upstairs and saw that the water in the basin had spilled, and Yuqin was wiping it up. Her skirt was wet, revealing her underwear, and a bunch of other tenants were watching. "Ye Wenfeng, can you help me? Get me the mop from the bathroom," Yuqin said while wiping the water. "Change your clothes first, then wipe yourself. You'll catch a cold, and everyone on this floor loves seeing you like this," Ye Wenfeng advised. Yuqin stubbornly said, "No, the wood on this floor is very good; I can't let it get damp." Ye Wenfeng sighed, took off his coat, and gave it to Yuqin, saying, "Wrap it around the wet areas." Then he went to get the mop. Yuqin stared blankly for a while, thinking, "[Is this guy really that kind? Hmm, he even bought me breakfast, and now he's helping me. Ye Wenfeng, I'll definitely make you my second Ye Wenfeng!]" [Male Best Friend] Yuqin was thinking this when she suddenly remembered Shen Yeran. She tucked the clothes into her waistband, patted her face to cheer herself up, and said, "Here, take it," Ye Wenfeng said. Yuqin took the clothes and started mopping the floor. Ye Wenfeng went downstairs with his hands in his pockets. After Yuqin finished mopping, she checked the floor to make sure it wasn't bulging or leaking. Then she went back to her room to change, washed her wet clothes, and hung them up to dry. Then she opened the bathroom door. "Thank you for earlier," Yuqin said gratefully. Ye Wenfeng, lying on the bed, opened one eye and looked at Yuqin, then slowly replied with an "Oh." Yuqin then continued working. Around noon, Yuqin returned carrying a bag (which she had bought after cleaning; by the way, it's exactly 12:00 Beijing time). Ye Wenfeng was lying in bed sleeping with music playing. When Yuqin came back, the noodles she was carrying smelled incredibly tempting. "What's that smell?" Ye Wenfeng, just woken up, asked in a hoarse voice. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and got out of bed. "Oh, you're awake. Let's have lunch." Ye Wenfeng looked at Yuqin, then at the two bowls of noodles on the table. "Thanks," Ye Wenfeng said, starting to eat. "This is to repay your breakfast and the favor of putting my coat on me. I'll owe you for now." Yuqin also sat down to eat. Ye Wenfeng finished the noodles in his mouth, took a sip of soup, swallowed, and said, "These noodles are more expensive than bread. We're even." "That's true. You're going to be my best friend, so let's not be so stingy," Yuqin said with a smile. "Best friend? What's that?" Ye Wenfeng looked confused. Yuqin continued with a smile, "Well then, let me ask you now, what do you want?" "Don't be my male best friend." "Why?" Ye Wenfeng asked. "I just want you to be my male best friend," Yuqin said. "Okay, I also think we might get along," Ye Wenfeng said. "By the way, what's that music? It's really nice. I thought guys only played loud rock music," Yuqin asked. "Oh, that's the piano piece I need to practice," Ye Wenfeng said. "So you play the piano?" Yuqin was a little surprised. "I heard the school I'm transferring to has a piano, so I can practice," Ye Wenfeng said. "This apartment also has a piano, and you can bring your piano over," Yuqin said. "Pianos are too hard to move, and it might disturb other people," Ye Wenfeng said hesitantly. "Everyone here loves music," Yuqin said confidently. "How do you know?" Ye Wenfeng asked. "Haha," Yuqin laughed, continuing, "You're new here, so you might not know, but we have a music festival every year. It's a tradition in this apartment." "Then, moving company?" Ye Wenfeng asked with some concern. "No problem," Yuqin confidently patted Ye Wenfeng's shoulder, revealing a confident smile. Ye Wenfeng looked puzzled. Yuqin made a phone call, and immediately there was a knock on the door. "Sister Lin, I've left the piano here for you." "Okay, thanks," Yuqin gave a thumbs up, her toothy smile was very bold and cool. "Call us next time you need anything." "Okay," Yuqin said, and the group left. "How did you..." Ye Wenfeng looked surprised. "I told you to trust me, I have a wide network of connections. Oh, by the way, you should practice the piano. That piece must be very nice. I'm going to sleep for a while." Yuqin fell asleep immediately, and then the melodious music started playing. It was already past midnight when Yuqin woke up, yawned, and then lay on the bed looking up at the sky. [Oh, so many stars. By the way, I haven't seen Wange and the others in a long time.]
