How many people have passed through your world?

Life is but a fleeting few decades. What kind of life we will lead, what kind of scenery we will see—we have no idea. We only know to move forward step by step, regardless of whether it's what we imagined, we will walk on without hesitation. Perhaps there will be regrets, but this is the path we chose. I always thought I would walk the path I imagined, no one forced me, and I would only choose to do what I liked. But as time passed, I became less stubborn and less persistent. What is it that I really want? Perhaps even I am now confused and lost.

As I grew older, I slowly changed, becoming more worldly and sophisticated, becoming someone I no longer liked. A friend once teased me during a conversation: "So, you weren't like this before. You were sharp as a cat's claws, and no one dared to mess with you." Hearing this, I laughed. Yes, for so many years, I lived carefree and unrestrained, as if many things were readily available, without needing to scheme or fight for them. Later, during the days away from home, I missed those days—unrestrained and carefree. It was also during those days away from home that I realized how ignorant I was. Many things that I thought were simple actually required a great deal of effort to obtain. Later, I realized how difficult life is. I replied to my friend: "Those sharp edges have slowly been smoothed out." Perhaps with a touch of self-deprecation, I slowly learned in the outside world how unworthy I was in the eyes of others, and no matter how much you refute, it's useless. Slowly, I learned to be silent. Those who understand you, you never need to say much; those who dislike you, no matter what you do, will always be wrong. I slowly changed myself in that kind of life, slowly adapted to life.

My best friend once said: "No matter how bad life gets, I will never change my original self." After hearing this, I just smiled and let it go. But to this day, she's still the same as before—stubborn, outspoken, intolerant of any flaws, innocent, and genuine. Things I never believed before have come true in my best friend's life. Things I never believed have happened to my dear friends. It's true that one's destiny is in one's own hands. If you are strong, you can change your life; otherwise, life will change you. I am the latter, but I don't regret it. My life has been relatively smooth. There have been setbacks, but who dares say there won't be? I hate hardship, but I'm not afraid of it. This is something I've accepted about myself. I believe that as long as you want to, you will eventually become the person you love. In this life

, you'll miss so many things and so many people, but don't regret it. Even if you were given another chance, you might not be able to seize it. I firmly believe this. Life is real because of its ups and downs, its rights and wrongs, its gains and losses. I won't dwell on my life so much anymore. Having experienced many things, I truly understand: what I gain is my fortune, what I lose is my fate.

I've gradually stopped caring so much because I've come to understand that sometimes losing something makes you see things more clearly than gaining it. I no longer deliberately try to maintain things that aren't important; I've started to let things take their natural course. My friends say I'm getting old, like an old lady, taking many things lightly. Only I know how stubborn I used to be, how much I wanted those things, but I slowly gave up after failing to get them time and time again. It's not that I didn't want them, but that I couldn't have them before. Since I couldn't have them before, I don't want them now. This is my own pride—slowly giving up on what I couldn't have, and completely letting go when I gave up. My love life is a clear example of this. When I cherished it, he didn't care, and in the end, it was all for nothing. I never care how much I gave in a relationship because I find it ridiculous. I was willing at the time, and now that it's over, why bother nitpicking? That's how I've seen so many things, both others' and my own.

Many times I ask myself what I really want, but the answer is always blank. Maybe it's because I've experienced too much and have lost my ideas. But I always believe that some things can only be experienced alone, and some things can only be decided by myself. We have no way of knowing how many people will pass through our world or how many sights we will see. But we must always believe that we must become excellent so that we can have a higher stage. Some things, no matter how beautiful, are destined to be scenery, something to be admired but not appreciated. We must walk the path that suits us. No matter how many people pass through our world, we must remember not to change our original intentions and to be the person we like.
